Which airport you'll arrive at

Most visitors to Girne (Kyrenia) arrive at one of two airports. Ercan Airport, on the northern side of the island, is the closest and usually the simplest for reaching the hotel by road. Larnaca Airport, in the south, is often used for wider international connections; reaching Girne from there involves travelling north and crossing between the two sides of the island.

Getting from Ercan to Girne

From Ercan, the road to Girne is short — typically around 45 minutes, depending on traffic and where in town you are headed. The usual choices are a private transfer arranged in advance, a taxi from the airport rank, or a rental car if you plan to explore the coast during your stay.

A pre-arranged private transfer is the least stressful for a first visit or a late-night landing, because a driver is waiting when you clear the terminal.

Getting from Larnaca to Girne

Larnaca is further, and the journey is longer — often two to two and a half hours in total, because it includes crossing from the south of the island to the north. Travellers usually use a private transfer or taxi that handles the crossing, or drive themselves.

Because procedures at the crossing can change, it is worth checking the current requirements before you travel, and allowing extra time so a late connection does not become a rushed one. We can share what we know, but always confirm the latest details from an official source.
